Hi Everybody! Welcome! My name is Phoenix and today I’m going to be trying something new. Over the last couple years, I’ve been doing videos with my Shiba Inu named Kitsu. One thing that I always get asked in my comments section is, “Can you please teach us how to train a dog to be as good as Kitsu?” So my daddy and I decided that we should start a new channel where I share some training techniques that my daddy taught me when he was teaching Kitsu. The name of our new channel is going to be… drum roll please… The Queen of Shiba! Get it because it’s kind of like that old timey queen Egyptian person and then I’m the queen of Shiba Inus. Anyways, this video will just be an introduction for this new channel. I’ll do more short videos later where I show you how to train your Shiba Inus to sit, stay, and come, and all sorts of other useful and good tricks.

The first thing that you should know is that there are thousands of ways you can train your dog and a lot of those ways are good ways. So the way my daddy did it was that he studied on a lot of books and watched a lot of these Ceasar Milan episodes, which is, “The Dog Whisperer”. And he took all these bits and pieces and added them together and he worked out his own method what worked best for him.

The second thing you need to know is that it takes a lot of patience and time to be a good dog trainer. But, if you start early they will be the best dogs for the rest of their lives. The first step in training your dog is, you need to have the right dog for you. There are all sorts of different breeds of dog and each breed is different. And every dog has it’s own personality, just like people. There are big dogs, and small dogs, and active dogs, and lazy dogs. There are fast dogs, there are slow dogs, there are dogs who have short hair, there are dogs who shed a lot. There are dogs that people cannot get allergic to, there are dogs who do better in hot weather and there are some dogs who do better in cold weather. So it’s really important that you find a dog that fits just right for you and your life.

My mom and dad really liked Shiba Inus because they were different than all the other dogs where we live. Also they look like a fox and they are genetically closer to wolves than any other dog. They’re small but still strong and active and fast. They’re also “hypo-energetic” which is good because my dad is allergic to most dogs.

My daddy got Kitsu when she was just a new born puppy. Here’s how my daddy picked Kitsu: He didn’t want to pick the puppy that was too outgoing because he was afraid, when she grew up she would be really hard to control. But he also did not want the puppy that was whimpering and hiding in the corner because he was afraid that when she grows up she’s going to be afraid of people. So instead he picked the one right in the middle. Next my mom and dad had to name their new puppy. When naming your puppy there are some things you might want to consider to make it easier for your dog. You should think of a name that has two syllables because if it just has one it might sound like a command like sit or stay. And if it’s longer and it has like, 3 or 4 syllables, it might be harder for the dog to learn her name. My daddy also thought that the name should not have an “oh” sound in it because then it might sound too much like “No” and then the dog might think that she’s doing something wrong each and every time you call her name. My mommy and daddy came up with the name Kitsu because Kitsune is the word for fox but in Japan. And she kind of looks like a fox. And also Shiba Inus were from Japan and so my daddy just kind of shortened it to be two syllables.

Shiba Inus are really hard to train. So if you can train a Shiba Inu I bet you you can train any other dog. And all the tips and training techniques I’m going to be giving you guys aren’t just going to be used on Shiba Inus. They can be used on any other dog. So if you really want a Shiba Inu or if you already have them I think you should know about the breed first.
